Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked will enter Steam Early Access on December 1st. It follows the earlier multiplayer expansion Don’t Starve Together and the DLC Don’t Starve: Reign Of Giants.

Shipwrecked will extend the action out into the open sea, complete with a whole host of new threats, such as the fierce creatures from the depths of the ocean, and plenty more ways to meet your demise. Early Access means that the game will be subject to constant changes and updates during this period as the developers receive feedback from players. A spokesperson from Klei, speaking on the game’s forum, explains the launch:

The early access version of the game is fully playable, but there is still some work to be done. The initial version contains new seasons, creatures, biomes, and many other exciting ways to die. As always, during early access we will be releasing regular updates containing new content as well as tweaks and bug fixes based on your input. Remember, we’re listening, so join our forums and share your thoughts!

The initial Early Access launch for Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked will only be for Windows, with no word as of yet to when it will be made available for Mac and Linux. We’ll keep you posted when we hear more though.
