If you’ve been stuck in the post-console release drought, and have been wanting another title to play on your shiny new PlayStaion 4 or Xbox One, we have good news for you. The PS3 and PS4 versions of the latest title in Capcom’s long-running Strider series will be available on February 18th, with the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Steam versions to follow on the 19th. The game will be priced at $14.99 across all consoles.

In addition to the main campaign, Strider will feature two new game modes. Beacon Run will task players with speed-running areas, complete with checkpoints and online leaderboards. But perhaps even more intriguing is the Survival Mode, which will see waves of enemies attacking protagonist Strider Hiryu, and mix things up with an assortment of item and ability load outs.

Aside from simply looking forward to playing the game, I’m especially interested to see how successful Strider will be for Capcom. While many will recognize Srider Hiryu from guest appearances in titles such as Marvel vs Capcom 3, you’ll have to go all the way back to the year 2000 and the original PlayStaion console to find the his last starring role. While Strider isn’t exactly the household name that Mega Man is, he certainly is a cool character and it’s nice to see Capcom giving him a chance to shine once again.

On the other hand, bad-ass ninja with a plasma sword and a sweet-looking scarf is probably not all that hard a sell to the uninitiated. Check out the trailer below and you’ll see what I mean.

Will you be picking up Strider when it releases later this month?
