Terry Crews Continues To Beat The Drum For Overwatch Role, Visits Blizzard HQ

Is Terry Crews about to join the Overwatch voice cast? The Brooklyn Nine-Nine star is certainly making a strong case for it, after visiting Blizzard HQ.

Terry Crews, star of The Expendables and hit sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine, has sparked speculation that he is currently on the verge of joining the Overwatch voice cast.

A self-confessed Overwatch nut, Crews revealed via Facebook that he swung by Blizzard HQ just last week to meet with the creators behind the über-popular shooter, fuelling rumors that the fan-favorite actor may well voice an as-yet-unannounced character. Doomfist, perhaps? Indeed, Crews has lobbied for the role before, after partaking in a recent Reddit AMA. As spotted by GameSpot, the actor said, “I would LOVE TO PLAY DOOMFIST,” via a verified account.

Initially designed to be an ancillary character during the early days of development, Doomfist is the title given to a soldier who wields a powerful gauntlet in the Overwatch lore, while additional references can be seen scattered throughout Blizzard’s hero shooter. As a matter of fact, that gauntlet in question cropped up during the origin story for Sombra, the most recent addition to the Overwatch character roster. Could this signal that Doomfist is indeed on the way, possibly with Terry Crews lending his voice to the part? We’ll be keeping an eye on this one as it develops.

Meanwhile, Overwatch players are currently lapping up the shooter’s Winter Wonderland event, which kicked off on December 13. Set to run through the holidays until January 2, the festive-themed update brought with it a slew of seasonal items, including new emotes, victory poses, highlight intros, and character skins, some of which have proved a little contentious among fans.
