Just a few days after news of the game leaked, Ubisoft has officially confirmed that Assassin’s Creed: Unity will be the next entry in the franchise. The first current-gen exclusive title in the series will launch this fall on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.

Although the first trailer for Unity is brief, it does seem to confirm the fact that the game will most likely take place during the French Revolution. Unfortunately, that’s all we can really gain from it as additional plot details are being kept tightly under wraps at this time.

Since it only took Ubisoft a few days to confirm Unity‘s existence, it will be interesting to see what they do about the other rumored title in the Assassin’s Creed franchise that’s also scheduled for 2014. Currently being referred to as “Comet,” it may not be the more exciting of the two, mostly because it is scheduled for previous generation consoles, but I do wonder if it will tie in with this title or if it will branch off and become its own thing.

We will continue to bring you the latest news on Assassin’s Creed: Unity when it becomes available. For now though, tell us, is anyone excited about exploring 18th century Paris? Or have you had enough of this series? Sound off below!
