10 More Heroes Who Should Be Included In Zack Snyder’s Justice League

In 2017, Zack Snyder will make the dreams of comic book fans everywhere come true when he finally brings the Justice League to the big screen. Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller came close with a fully CGI movie a number of years ago, but this version is going to be all live-action and could give The Avengers a run for its money if handled well. We'll get an early look at the team in next year's Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (hence the subtitle), but as of right now, the roster feels more than a little incomplete. While it may match "The New 52" version of this iconic group of heroes, there are some notable omissions, not to mention a very long list of other characters that fans are hoping will show up in some capacity, even if it isn't actually as part of the League. So, which heroes from the comic books are most deserving of a role in Justice League, and why? Here, you will find the ten characters we most want to see assemble alongside the likes of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman in 2017. Some you'll be familiar with and others may surprise you, but regardless, they all need to make an appearance... 10) Stargirl If "Who?!" was your first reaction, don't feel too bad. Stargirl isn't exactly an A-List superhero, but she's a favourite of Geoff Johns (who is playing a key role in the development of all these DC Comics movies, including writing Batman with Ben Affleck) and has a ton of potential. While it appears as if Ray Fisher's Vic Stone is going to be taking on the role of the Justice League's young hero thrust into action when he becomes Cyborg, seeing teenager Courtney Whitmore also become a hero due to the events of these movies would be pretty neat. After inheriting this mantle from her step-father, Stargirl was chosen by Amanda Waller and Steve Trevor to join the Justice League of America as the public face of the team, but don't underestimate her; she's also incredibly powerful and has the potential to bring an awful lot to this movie. 9) Green Arrow Despite the fact that Stephen Amell has now suited up as Green Arrow in The CW series, there's nothing to say that another version of the character couldn't show up in Justice League. After all, we're going to be getting a second Barry Allen/The Flash courtesy of Ezra Miller, and with Warner Bros. making it clear that their TV and film properties are being kept separate, another Oliver Queen doesn't seem like a huge stretch. It's honestly quite surprising that Zack Snyder hasn't used this character in Batman V Superman, given the key role he played in The Dark Knight Returns, and an older and experienced Green Arrow - goatee and all - being utilized in Justice League would be great for fans to see. It could also lead to that long rumoured Supermax movie (which would feature Green Arrow fighting villains behind bars after being wrongly imprisoned). 8) Steve Trevor Chris Pine has been cast as Steve Trevor in the Wonder Woman movie, but with conflicting reports about the time period in which that's going to take place, it's hard to say if the character stands a chance of showing up in Justice League. Hopefully Snyder chooses to include him, as it would be a missed opportunity to not have Trevor factor into the present day DC Extended Universe, especially as his role as the team's liaison to the government added an interesting wrinkle to their dynamic. Trevor was forced to balance helping the Justice League and spying on them, and his failed relationship with Wonder Woman from a few years before obviously complicated things somewhat (especially when she embarked on a relationship with Superman). The character showing up in the film would also give the audience a regular person to view this God-like team of heroes through, which could be important. 7) Nightwing It was initially believed that Nightwing was set to show up in Batman V Superman, with rumours pointing to the former Robin having quite a tension fraught relationship with his former mentor. However, we've since heard nothing about this fan-favourite character factoring into the movie, and it's unclear if he's even going to be included in the DC Extended Universe (especially as Nightwing is expected to be the lead in a Teen Titans TV series). While Justice League is no doubt going to be all about the team squaring off with a gigantic threat, seeing Batman spending even a little time with his former ally would be a nice way to remind us that he's a man among Gods and far more comfortable back in Gotham City, which he could perhaps leave under Dick Grayson's protection while he's away fighting alongside his newfound teammates. 6) Shazam Shazam isn't set to be released until 2019, an agonizing wait considering how excited Dwayne Johnson gets us all every time he talks about taking on the role of Black Adam. Despite him being attached to the movie though, there's currently no word on who might play the titular hero, but Justice League might not be a bad place to introduce the character. It's hard to say how Warner Bros. could go about that, but not if they do what they've done with pretty much every other member of the team by having Shazam be an already established hero in this world. While the League already has plenty of muscle, Shazam's unique magic based powers would bring a lot to the table, especially in a battle against someone as powerful as Darkseid. His origin story could then be explored after moviegoers have a reason to be interested in him beyond The Rock. 5) Martian Manhunter Martian Manhunter has been both an ally and enemy to the Justice League over the years, and while he wasn’t among those announced as having their own movie as part of Warner Bros.’ DC Comics slate, there have been rumblings for a while now that he’ll show up in this superhero ensemble a couple of years from now. Assuming that this team are going to be battling a cosmic threat like Brainiac or Darkseid, having someone like J’onn J’onz (who was teleported to Earth from Mars and left stranded here years ago) serving as part of the team could come in very handy indeed in terms of how the story plays out. His range of telepathic and shape shifting abilities meanwhile would also bring something very different to Justice League, and it would be a great shame to see this fan-favourite hero overlooked in either of these movies. 4) John Constantine It was recently revealed that Warner Bros. are putting Justice League Dark back on the fast track, with the plan being to place the movie firmly in the DC Extended Universe and for characters from this team to start showing up in some of the already announced DC Comics adaptations (sign me up for a team-up between Swamp-Thing and The Flash). Having John Constantine briefly show up in Justice League could help set the stage for this long delayed movie, whether he's depicted as being ignored by the heroes after seeking them out for help - hence why the Justice League Dark are assembled - or possibly even helping them out in some capacity. Warner Bros. needs to start pushing their shared universe and getting regular moviegoers excited about these newly introduced characters, and this would be an ideal way of doing that. 3) Green Lantern The most recent Green Lantern rumour is that the character's planned reboot will focus on Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart, with at least one of them arriving on Earth at the end of the first Justice League movie to warn the team of an incoming threat (most likely Darkseid). The character is definitely notable by his absence in Batman V Superman as of right now, and while the 2011 movie may have been a disappointment, it would be it would suck if he wasn't a founding member of the team. For that reason alone, here's hoping he does more than show up at the end of the 2017 superhero ensemble, because this rumour makes him sound like little more than an afterthought, even if he ends up playing a key role in the planned sequel. Hal would be the preferred option here, though Jon certainly has a pretty devoted fanbase after Justice League Unlimited, so it's hard to tell which route WB will go. 2) Lex Luthor No, we haven't made a mistake by including Lex Luthor on a list of heroes who should be included in Justice League. Those of you up to date with DC Comics should be aware that he's now a proud member of the team and is so far doing a pretty good job of protecting the world alongside the likes of Superman and Wonder Woman. Of course, he only managed to join their ranks after working out Batman's secret identity and blackmailing Bruce Wayne (how great would it be to see that scene play out between Ben Affleck and Jesse Eisenberg?), so it's not like he's left his villainous traits entirely behind. Depending on how Batman V Superman plays out though, this could be a very interesting direction to take Justice League in, especially if the team really has no other choice than to turn to Lex for help in bringing down whoever threatens the Earth... 1) Supergirl While Supergirl may have just landed her own TV series, there's plenty of room for her in the DC Extended Universe, too. Man of Steel actually featured a huge Easter Egg seemingly pointing to her existence, and one very interesting way of introducing her could be to have her working alongside Darkseid as a villain of sorts. There's precedent for that happening in the comics (she was actually his brainwashed slave when Jeph Loeb re-introduced the character before "The New 52" reboot), and having Superman's only remaining family being under the control of the Justice League's greatest villain would add a very interesting wrinkle to these movies. Either way, superhero films need more strong female leads, and throwing Supergirl into the mix to fight alongside Wonder Woman - the team's only woman - would not be a bad thing.
