A remarkably run of the mill action thriller overcomes an absence of originality to claim a #1 streaming spot

It runs, it guns, and that's apparently all anybody needs.

Come rain, shine, hell, or high water, action thrillers are inevitably going to be among the most popular movies on streaming, regardless of whether or not we’re talking about stone-cold classics or bargain basement shoot ’em ups. No offense intended, but Night Train most certainly isn’t the former.

Danielle C. Ryan continues her evolution into one of cinema’s most unlikely recurring ass-kickers by headlining director Shane Stanley’s crime caper, which currently boasts a Rotten Tomatoes audience approval rating of 19 percent and an IMDb average rating of 3.7/10, to give you an inkling of the end product’s quality.

The actress headlines the cast as a struggling single mother trying to make ends meet who resorts to illicitly transporting black market medical supplies in her infamous souped-up truck that’s gained such a reputation she immediately finds herself in the crosshairs of a doggedly determined FBI agent seeking to track her down and bring her to justice by any means necessary.

Night Train doesn’t reinvent the wheel, nor does it possess anything that could certifiably be deemed as remotely original or inventive, and yet it’s still managed to become the number one film on one of the biggest streaming services out there.

Per FlixPatrol, the run of the mill effort has rocketed right to the very summit of Hulu’s viewership charts, ensuring for the millionth time that if you put anything with high-octane thrills and a smattering of shootouts on any on-demand platform, there’s always going to be an audience willing to take the plunge.
