Andrew Garfield says it’d be cool to face off with Tom Hardy’s Venom

Andrew Garfield admits that it would be cool if his Spider-Man were to face off against Tom Hardy's Venom in the future.

Ever since the worst-kept secret in Hollywood was confirmed when Spider-Man: No Way Home hit theaters to reveal the guest appearances of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, fans have been rallying behind the former making a more permanent return to the world of spandex and superheroes.

The Amazing Spider-Man duology isn’t anywhere near the top tier of superhero blockbusters, but Garfield was excellent in both of them, it’s just a shame his performances and dedication to the character was largely lost under Sony’s relentless desire to build an entire shared universe capable of rivaling Marvel Studios, only to see it implode at the second hurdle.

The actor has admitted more than once that he’d be happy to return under the right circumstances, so those calls for either The Amazing Spider-Man 3, having Garfield as the Peter Parker of Sony’s franchise, or both, haven’t quietened one iota.

The 38 year-old has poured even more fuel onto the fire during his recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, where he once again addressed a hypothetical comeback, and even teased a showdown with Tom Hardy’s Venom.

“In terms of moving forward with the character, I am definitely open to that. It would have to be something very unique, very special, and of service to the audience and the character. I think there’s something playful and unique and odd and unexpected to be done. I’m not sure it is, but if we can figure it out, that would be so much fun… That’s a cool idea.”

That’s only going to increase the demand to see him suit up and swing back into the fray once more, but like Garfield said, it’s up to Sony to present something to him that he couldn’t possibly turn down.
