Though most of the buzz surrounding Avengers: Infinity War is about all of the MCU’s mightiest heroes coming together for the first time, let’s not forget the fearsome enemies they’ll be battling against. Yes, Josh Brolin’s Thanos is the big bad of the event movie, but he’ll also be supported by his elite group of mercenaries/adoptive children the Black Order – comprising of the colorfully-named Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian.
An interesting new look at the group has come our way this week thanks to these new promo posters for IW. While one, though cool enough, is a familiar-looking design featuring a bunch of heroes with Thanos coming off as all malevolent in the background, the second one gives us more to chew on. Focusing solely on the dark side, it sees the Mad Titan surrounded by his evil pride and joy.
Check them out in the gallery down below, along with a few other posters (of both the fan-made and promotional variety):
If you’re wondering who the six-armed critter at the bottom of the one-sheet is, that’s an Outrider, a member of a genetically engineered species with a lot of pent-up anger. We’ve been led to believe this particular Outrider will have a fairly prominent role in Infinity War, too, and this promo poster pretty much confirms that’s because he’s loyal to Thanos and will act as one of his minions.
What’s more interesting about this poster, though, is that it sees Thanos wielding an unexpected weapon. With the all-powerful Infinity Gauntlet at his disposal, the villain doesn’t usually have much of a use for rudimentary combative accessories, but it looks like he’ll wield one mighty-looking sword in Infinity War.
We suppose he’s going to have to battle the Avengers somehow before he collects all six Infinity Stones and we wonder if he’s going to engage in a sword fight with Thor at any point, who will somehow come by Heimdall’s weapon in the film. Cue the speculation.
Thanos will finally make his mark on the MCU when Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27th.
