The relationship between Michael Myers and Laurie Strode has proved to be a prevalent theme in the promotion for the upcoming Halloween, but the masked murderer does have a life of his own, and this terrific new still from the Blumhouse sequel shows another unlucky babysitter who’s fighting for her life.

The image is taken from a scene that also features in the slasher flick’s first trailer, which sees the babysitter caring for a kid who’s nervous about monsters in his closet – and as it turns out, rightly so. The image observes the ensuing panic from a well-lensed and slightly claustrophobic perspective, with the woman screaming in the foreground and a blurry Michael looming in the back.

It’s worth remembering that this next installment in the long-running series is ditching the sibling subplot featured in previous Halloween sequels. The reason given for this decision was that without the family connection, Michael’s killings seem frighteningly random, suggesting that victims like the one you see below just so happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

If you’re looking for a clearer picture of the film’s lead killer, a nice new international poster also made its way online recently in which the knife-wielding antagonist shows off the patented “head-tilt” that he first displayed back in 1978. But if you’d like to check in with the last babysitter Michael bothered, Laurie features in two freshly released clips, one of which sees her granddaughter urging her to move on from her traumatic past, and the other of which features a documentary crew inviting her to revisit her old assailant.

We’ll see how Michael’s impending reunion with Laurie goes when Halloween comes out on October 19th.
