Black Panther Becomes The New Ghost Rider In Awesome Fan Art

Black Panther's pretty cool, right? But how could you make the African king-turned-superhero even cooler? How about giving him the powers of the Spirit of Vengeance itself, Ghost Rider? That would do it!

Prolific fan artist Boss Logic’s latest piece imagines just that. Dubbed “Ghost Panther,” the artwork features the hero looking terrifying with a floating skull for a head and wearing a rocky panther mask, which somewhat resembles the Bast statue that stands in Wakanda.

Though the main Ghost Riders have been Johnny Blaze, Danny Ketch and Robbie Reyes, the nature of the character means that his powers can be passed from host to host, meaning that many other familiar Marvel heroes have wielded the powers of the Spirit of Vengeance. Current comics, for instance, feature the Cosmic Ghost Rider, who’s actually the Punisher AKA Frank Castle.

While Black Panther recently made his mark in the MCU, thanks to his standout roles in Captain America: Civil War, his solo movie and Avengers: Infinity War, fans are still waiting for Marvel Studios to really make the most use out of Ghost Rider on screen. Sure, Gabriel Luna was a great addition to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s fourth season as Reyes, but the character’s too interesting to play merely a supporting part in a TV show.

You might recall that a rumor from late last year pointed to Luna reprising his role as Ghost Rider in next May’s Avengers 4. While that might sound a little far-fetched, we do have photographic evidence that Luna was traveling to set with Frank Grillo, who’s supposed to return as Crossbones in the movie, so who knows? If the film and TV worlds of Marvel are ever going to collide, the grand finale to Phase 3 that is Avengers 4 is the perfect time to do it, don’t you think?
