It’s no secret that Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther will make his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in next year’s Captain America: Civil War, but now Heroic Hollywood is reporting one possible reason that he could be venturing outside of Wakanda and encountering the Avengers. According to the site, T’Challa will start off Civil War on the hunt for none other than The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), the brainwashed assassin who used to be Captain America’s best friend Bucky Barnes.

Why would the Panther have his claws out for Bucky? That’s still unclear, though many of Heroic Hollywood’s readers suggested that one of The Winter Solider’s many, many kills carried out at the bequest of HYDRA could have been against someone very close to the Black Panther – perhaps even his father, T’Chaka.

Now, Age of Ultron told us that Cap (Chis Evans) and Falcon (Anthony Mackie) are still searching for Bucky, but now it appears that their quest will become more of a race against time. It seems unlikely to this Marvel fan that T’Chaka would die so quickly after being introduced in the MCU – or that The Winter Soldier would be responsible for his death if he were killed, now that Ulysses Klaw (Andy Serkis) has been introduced as a major Panther adversary.

Regardless, if T’Challa is on the hunt for Bucky, that means the character must have wronged Wakanda at some point over the years. Maybe the Panther is none-too-happy about HYDRA’s appropriation of vibranium, a precious mineral found in Wakanda?

All will be revealed when Captain America: Civil War hits on May 6, 2016. In addition to Evans, Mackie, Stan and Boseman, the super-sized cast includes Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Daniel Bruhl, Emily VanCamp, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Frank Grillo, Martin Freeman, Don Cheadle and William Hurt.
