Brand New Ryan Gosling Images For Only God Forgives

For those movie-goers who loved the brutal violence, 80s aesthetics, and bordering pretentiousness of Ryan Gosling/Nicolas Winding Refn's first team-up, Drive, you're next fix will most likely come in the form of Only God Forgives, the latest picture from this pair who are now considered the epitome of cool. A revenge movie about an exiled American running a boxing club in Thailand, the movie looks to be embracing the "brutal violence" part of the Gosling/Refn relationship, given what we've seen of our protagonist's face thus far in various promotional shots.

For those movie-goers who loved the brutal violence, 80s aesthetics, and bordering pretentiousness of Ryan Gosling/Nicolas Winding Refn‘s first team-up, Drive, your next fix will most likely come in the form of Only God Forgives, the latest picture from this pair who are now considered the epitome of cool cinema. A revenge movie about an exiled American running a boxing club in Thailand, the movie looks to be embracing the “brutal violence” part of the Gosling/Refn relationship, given what we’ve seen of our protagonist’s face thus far in various promotional shots.

Now, though, we’ve got some more pictures from the latest issue of Premiere Magazine – one of which shows Ryan Gosling observing what we presume to be a Thai boxing match with the right amount of Winding Refn-movie broodiness, and another with the director and actor undertaking a sort of twisted photoshoot in which violence is just, you know, part of everyday life, man. Check ’em out below.

For anybody interested in a full plot synopsis, you can check it out here:

Julian (Gosling) lives in exile in Bangkok where he runs a Thai boxing club as a front for the family’s drugs smuggling operation. When Julian’s brother Billy is killed their mother, Jenna (Kristen Scott Thomas), arrives in the city. She wants revenge and forces Julian to find the killer. Julian’s contacts in the criminal underworld lead him directly to The Angel of Vengeance, a retired police officer who knows everything and who is both Judge and Punisher. Jenna demands that Julian kill The Angel of Vengeance, an act that will cost him dearly.

What do you make of these new photos, then? Are you excited to see what Nicolas Winding Refn has come up with?

Only God Forgives kicks its way into theatres on May 23rd 2013.
