Brie Larson Shows Us Captain Marvel Can Lift Mjolnir With New Photo

Avengers: Endgame proved that Captain America is worthy enough of lifting Thor's hammer, bur what about Captain Marvel? Carol Danvers is probably stronger than the two of them combined and she's got a hero's heart, too. Well, Brie Larson may have just settled this debate with her latest Instagram post, which shows the actress lifting Mjolnir no problem. Well, Brie Larson may have just settled this debate with her latest Instagram post, which shows the actress lifting Mjolnir no problem. Larson captioned her photo, which is currently on its way to 2 million likes, with the following: “Not to be whatever, but….told you I could lift it.”

Of course, the actress is referring back to the time she was asked if Carol could lift Thor’s hammer at a convention appearance prior to the release of Captain Marvel. On that occasion, the star had no doubt that she could, giving the brief answer: “definitely.” Now, she’s shown us the photographic evidence.

Obviously, this Instagram post isn’t canon for the MCU, but it honestly would make a lot of sense for Carol to be worthy enough. It’s no longer just Chris Hemsworth’s Asgardian who has the power to pick up Mjolnir. Vision can do it, Cap can do it and soon enough, Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster will wield it as well, as Thor’s ex is returning for 2021’s Thor: Love and Thunder – but this time, she’ll be the Goddess of Thunder herself. Maybe in a future team-up movie, Larson will get to recreate this photo and make it officially official.

As for what’s next for Carol, Captain Marvel 2 isn’t coming in Phase 4, but Kevin Feige has confirmed it’s on the way, likely in Phase 5. We believe it’s going to be set in the past again as well, with Jude Law and Samuel L. Jackson reportedly returning as the treacherous Yon-Rogg and Nick Fury, respectively. The plot could be a twist on Secret Invasion with the Kree invading the Earth in place of the kindly Skrulls, but it’s still too early to say for sure which direction it’ll head in. As always, though, stay tuned for more.
