Another key member of the Barden Bellas will raise her voice for Pitch Perfect 3.

As Universal and Gold Circle work to get all the pieces of their a cappella franchise back together for a third go-round, Brittany Snow is in the midst of closing a deal to reprise the role of since-graduated, nodes-afflicted Bella member Chloe Beale, whose shower room escapades directly pushed then-Barden University freshman Beca Mitchell (series star Anna Kendrick) into trying out.

Kendrick and fan favorite Rebel Wilson, who plays Bella member Fat Amy, have both already signed on to return for Pitch Perfect 3. The two split face-of-the-franchise duties, and the studios would have struggled to pull a third installment together without them.

Snow is a little less crucial to maintaining the DNA of the franchise, but her character is certainly well-liked, and it will be interesting to see what role she can play going forward.

Kay Cannon, who penned the first two films, is already hard at work on the script for the third one. Elizabeth Banks, who co-starred in both movies and made her directorial debut on Pitch Perfect 2, has not been secured for the director’s chair quite yet, but with a 2017 release date set for the threequel, it’s expected that a helmer will be announced shortly. Banks has been the talk of the town since helming the sequel, so it’s possible she’ll get lured away by another project, but the studios would seemingly have a vested interest in bringing her back if they can.

Pitch Perfect emerged from the little a cappella comedy that could into a box office smash, grossing $113 million worldwide and doing extremely well on home media platforms as its soundtrack dominated the charts. Pitch Perfect 2, even without a breakout song like the first one’s “Cups,” has more than doubled that haul, grossing $282 million worldwide against a comparatively chump-change $29 million budget. As such, it makes perfect sense that Universal wouldn’t want to mess with a winning formula.

Hailee Steinfeld, who was introduced as a potential new lead for the series in the sequel, is also expected to return for the threequel, as there was sequel language in her contract. News on other familiar faces returning will surely come soon.

Pitch Perfect 3 opens July 21, 2017.
