Captain Marvel Star Brie Larson Reportedly Signs Huge 7-Movie Deal With Marvel Studios

Back in October, a report got some traction that Captain Marvel star Brie Larson had signed on to make seven movies with Marvel Studios, and while the actress herself was quick to deny the claim, it seems that Disney may have such a deal lined up for the Oscar-winner after all.

Citing THR as their source, ComicBookMovie.com reports that Larson has signed a seven-picture deal that will see her playing Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame and five other films. The report adds that the actress is being paid $5 million for Carol’s solo movie alone – a figure that comfortably exceeds the amount earned by Chadwick Boseman for Black Panther ($2 million) and stands at ten times Robert Downey Jr.’s fee for Iron Man ($500,000).

From the sound of things, Marvel Studios has a lot of faith in Larson and the heroine she plays, and given the current buzz around Captain Marvel, their trust may not be misplaced. One box office projection from earlier this month, for instance, had the movie’s domestic opening weekend haul tracking at $160 million, beating out the likes of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Thor: Ragnarok over the same period. On top of that, Captain Marvel has so far performed well in pre-sales, has yielded a very positive response from its early screenings, and has already landed a place on the ‘Most Anticipated Films of 2019’ lists of various polls and publications.

We’ll find out if Carol’s MCU debut can live up to the hype when Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8th, 2019, before Larson joins her superhero peers in Avengers: Endgame on April 26th. After that, we’ll just have to wait and see what Marvel Studios has in mind for the franchise’s newest arrival.
