Rose Creek is under siege, and as the town scrambles for a way to ward off the oncoming malicious baron Bartholomew Bogue, Haley Bennett’s young woman enlists The Magnificent Seven – a ragtag crew of bandits, gamblers and general schemers that take center stage in today’s first wave of images for Sony and MGM’s reboot.

Arriving by way of USA Today, the stills spotlight much of the core cast suited and booted, including Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt’s vigilante gunslingers, Sam Chisolm and Josh Farraday. Ethan Hawke, Daredevil‘s Vincent D’Onofrio, Wagner Moura, Byung-Hun Lee and Luke Grimes complete the titular roster of anti-heroes.

Whipping that star-studded lineup into shape is director Antoine Fuqua (The Equalizer), working from a screenplay pitched by True Detective’s Nic Pizzolatto. John Sturges’ 1960 original may act as the core inspiration – itself inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s timeless classic Seven Samurai – but when quizzed about his diverse roster of actors, Fuqua told USA Today that, “these guys are gunslingers, and when they walk into the room, you notice them. These are people you want to be with, or you want to protect you.”

Now that the first official cast photos have surfaced, don’t be too surprised if Sony and MGM prep to drop the reboot’s maiden trailer in the coming weeks. It’s not due to hit theatres until September, of course, but that lends both studios the chance to attach The Magnificent Seven trailer premiere to one of the major summer blockbusters. Either way, we’ll have it here for you as soon as it struts in from the frontier.

Also starring Matt Bomer, Billy Slaughter and Vinnie Jones, The Magnificent Seven will emerge blinking into the sunlight in time for September 23.
