Christian Bale In Talks For Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs Biopic

Today we've learned from Variety that The Dark Knight himself, Christian Bale, is currently in talks to play Steve Jobs in Sony's upcoming biopic of the Apple founder. Don't worry, you've not stepped into an alternate universe wherein the Ashton Kutcher version no longer exists. It still does. However, this new feature intends to walk a different path and approach Jobs' life from a unique angle. With Danny Boyle directing and Aaron Sorkin on scripting duties, such a talented duo are undoubtedly gonna carve out something special. The pic will be adapted from Walter Isaacson's biography, entitled Jobs, which Sorkin has hinted will play around with the typical biopic structure. Split into three "acts", each 30 minute scene will focus on Jobs at the time of three major product launches - the Mac, the NeXT and the iPod.

Today we’ve learned from Variety that The Dark Knight himself, Christian Bale, is currently in talks to play Steve Jobs in Sony’s upcoming biopic of the Apple founder.

Don’t worry, you’ve not stepped into an alternate universe wherein the Ashton Kutcher version no longer exists. It still does. However, this new feature intends to walk a different path and approach Jobs’ life from a unique angle. With Danny Boyle directing and Aaron Sorkin on scripting duties, such a talented duo are undoubtedly gonna carve out something special. The pic will be adapted from Walter Isaacson’s biography of Jobs, which Sorkin has hinted will play around with the typical biopic structure. Split into three “acts,” each 30 minute scene will focus on Jobs at the time of three major product launches  – the Mac, the NeXT and the iPod.

This isn’t the first time Bale’s name has been linked to the role, as the actor was sought after by David Fincher back when he was attached to direct. After that arrangement fell through (due to certain disagreements with the studio), the search was on for a new helmer. Boyle leapt into the director’s chair, with his The Beach leading man, Leonardo DiCaprio, in tow to star. Sadly, this set-up failed to stick as DiCaprio bailed to concentrate on The Revenant, before he takes a long hiatus from acting. It was at this point that Bale’s name resurfaced as a serious contender for the role once more, along with Bradley Cooper, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. Now it certainly seems like Bale is the frontrunner for the part.

The prospect of Bale working with Boyle is exciting enough in itself, but uniting to bring us a whole new take on Steve Jobs?  You can consider us very excited to see how this all plays out, which might be sooner than expected. Variety reports that Bale is eager to shoot the pic in Spring 2015.

Bale. Boyle. Jobs. What do you think to Sony’s choice for the Steve Jobs biopic? Would you have preferred Affleck, Damon or Cooper?
