IChristina Applegate’s character Veronica Corningstone may have only been 72-percent sure she loved Will Ferrell’s Ron Burgundy, but it looks like the actress is 100-percent certain she will return for long awaited sequel: Anchorman: The Legend Continues.

Following Ferrell’s in-character announcement on Conan that a sequel to 2004’s beloved comedy hit would indeed come about, the other three members of The Channel 4 News Team – Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner – officially singed on as well. With Fred Willard also reprising his role as the clueless studio head, those who thought an eight-year hiatus would be too long to ensure a mass return can rest easy.

If Applegate’s lovely presence isn’t enough to make you smell Sex Panther all over again, Koechner recently hinted at some of the sequel’s plot points, saying:

“It’s going to be centered around the next big change in news, after having females at the anchor desk. The next big event in the news was the cable news networks, the advent of 24-hour news.”

Now that the principle cast is locked up, there will no doubt be some great new additions to the line-up. As always, we’ll be sure to keep you updated on any developments.

Anchorman: The Legend Continues gets classy again some time in 2013.
