Vulture is telling us that director Darren Aronofsky, coming off the very successful Black Swan, has attached himself to a new project. which is said to be his next film. He’s looking to direct a 15-year-old spec script from writer Jeff Welch called Human Nature. It revolves around “a man who is cryogenically frozen and wakes up years later to a world in which humans have become pets of another species.”
Sounds a bit too similar to Planet of the Apes if you ask me. Vulture is also reporting that George Clooney is attached to star and Akiva Goldsman will develop the film. Not much else is known right now but the premise sounds interesting. Despite being similar to Planet of the Apes I’m interested in this one, mostly for the talent that is involved and at the prospect of having Clooney and Aronofsky working together. It’s very exciting and would likely turn out to be something special. Plus it’s unlikely that they would use apes as the species for which humans have become pets of, so there could be some originality here.
We’ll be sure to keep you posted on anymore news surrounding the project.
