First Deathgasm Trailer Brings A Montage Of Bloody Metal Mayhem

When the South By Southwest film festival announced this year's Midnighters lineup, the inclusion of Deathgasm made me want to rip a celebratory guitar solo. I'd only heard of the concept, obsessed with the mixture of metal music and demonic forces, but not even my wildest double-bass-pedal-fueled nightmares could prepare my eye-holes for the film's first trailer. Mates, this hellish beast looks absolutely "Brutal as fuck!"

Produced by Ant Timpson, the man behind such films as Turbo Kid and Housebound, Deathgasm looks like its shaping up to be exactly what the title states. I mean, you’ve got to have some pretty serious balls to pick such a “descriptive” name, but everything that writer/director Jason Lei Howden showcases in the above trailer comes off like a bloody moneyshot of satanic proportions. The images fly by so quickly, but a few standouts include dildo-bashing, a double-chainsaw-wielding rocker dressed vaguely like The Crow, a blind female demon, a swift head split, a spinal rip, and of course, a quick guitar tuning scene. You always want to be shredding correctly, even on the brink of the apocalypse!

Here’s the plot synopsis we’ve been given:

New kid in town Brodie and bad-boy Zakk quickly bond over their mutual admiration of heavy metal. But when these two metal thrashing losers unwittingly summon malevolent forces, their dreams of stardom may just have to be put on hold.

Listen, I can’t tell you how ‘effing excited I am to see this movie. It looks so good that it’ll make Slayer cry tears of blood. It looks like the Gods of horror and metal had a massive orgy, and the two strongest participants gave birth to the chaos that is Deathgasm. To this point, I think my re-watch count on this trailer is in the hundreds, because I refuse to believe what I’m seeing could possibly be true.

I’d sacrifice a goat right now if it meant I could watch Deathgasm, but unfortunately I’ll have to wait until I land in Austin on March 13th when South By Southwest kicks off. Can Deathgasm deliver constant thrills after building our hopes with such a bonkers trailer? You’ll be the first to know!
