Descending on the Croisette in the coming days to make its worldwide premiere, Icon Films and Amazon Studios have summoned forth the new, decidedly NSFW trailer for Nicolas Winding Refn’s The Neon Demon.
Unsurprisingly, as the creative mind behind Bronson, Drive and Only God Forgives, today’s new snippet for Refn’s latest creative effort is dripping with style, as it whisks viewers into the bowels of the fashion world, where we find Elle Fanning’s aspiring model Jesse struggling to a grasp a hold in a breathless, and really rather dangerous work environment. And that’s putting it lightly.
For in The Neon Demon, Fanning’s up-and-comer is one of the hottest talents on the catwalk, attracting the ire of power-mongering models hellbent on taking everything she owns. From there, Refn’s picture unfolds into a visceral thriller, rolling out nightmarish shots of Fanning’s scene-stealer fending off mental and physical attacks. Just how far are those models willing to go to scupper Jesse’s dreams of reaching the top?
Rounding out the impossibly attractive casting call are Karl Glusman, Bella Heathcote, Jena Malone, Abbey Lee, Desmond Harrington, Christina Hendricks and John Wick himself, Keanu Reeves.
Elle Fanning is almost ready for her close-up. With a Cannes premiere imminent, we can expect early reviews for The Neon Demon to seep online in the coming days before Nicolas Winding Refn’s sinister fashion thriller hits theaters on July 24.
