Doctor Strange 2

Doctor Strange 2’s Main Villain Has Reportedly Been Revealed

We Got This Covered has heard that a familiar face will return for Doctor Strange 2 and act as the main antagonist of the sequel.

For a studio that would often reveal years’ worth of upcoming movies at their own Apple-like event, Marvel’s been keeping awfully quiet in regards to what awaits us in Phase 4. True, we do know a little bit about what’s on the way, with films like The Eternals and Shang-Chi now in pre-production, and a Black Widow standalone pic currently shooting, too, but we haven’t heard a whole lot about the sequels to Black Panther and Doctor Strange. Now that Endgame has come and gone, though, we expect that to change very quickly.

In fact, if recent reports are to be believed, Doctor Strange 2, which is deep in development at the House of Ideas with director Scott Derrickson and screenwriter C. Robert Cargill on board, may be with us on November 5th, 2021. That’s not too far off now and with the sequel beginning to come together, we’re starting to learn a little more about it.

Sources close to We Got This Covered have revealed that Mordo will act as the main antagonist of the film. Apparently, he’ll be a “full-on villain” by the time we see him next and following on from the tease at the end of Doctor Strange, he’ll be trying to rid the world of magic. Or at least, most of it, as he feels only a worthy few should be allowed to use it.

But Mordo won’t be the only returning character in the follow-up, as we know that Tilda Swinton’s Ancient One is also expected to be back after her surprising cameo in Avengers: Endgame. And then there are those rumors saying classic Marvel comics characters Brother Voodoo and Clea, the niece of Dormammu, could also be showing up.

Suffice it to say, there’ll be a lot going on in the movie and when you throw in the fact that Benedict Cumberbatch’s title character was heavily involved in the last two Avengers flicks, his next appearance in the MCU could really head in any number of directions. As such, Doctor Strange 2 is definitely one project you’ll want to keep an eye on as it continues to develop.
