Back in September, the first teaser for the upcoming Captain Marvel left a lot of casual MCU fans confused and a little shocked with its clip of Brie Larson punching an old lady in the face. This display of abuse towards the elderly became an instant meme, and now that the new trailer has offered some clarification that the assaulted woman was actually a Skrull in disguise, the internet is getting excited all over again about the clash between these unlikely adversaries.

The extended version of the first trailer’s notorious “grandma-punching” moment comes right at the start of the new footage, as Carol Danvers strikes the old lady only for her victim to kick back in an impressive display of acrobatics. Among the various Twitter responses to this fight, you can find fans who are relieved to see that Brie Larson’s character isn’t the bully that she once looked to be, and others who are disappointed that Captain Marvel didn’t literally attack an innocent old woman:

While this “ninja grandma” sequence gets the trailer off to a strong start, the new video offers plenty more material in its wake, including some some further glimpses of the Skrulls in their natural, green-skinned form.

This army of shape-shifting extra-terrestrials will be led by the villainous Talos, played by Ben Mendelsohn, who’s managed to infiltrate S.H.I.E.L.D. as the boss of a young Nick Fury. Indeed, ever since the arrival of Skrulls in the MCU was first announced, fans have been speculating on which pre-established characters could be aliens in disguise, accusing everyone from General Ross to Thor of holding secret identities.

While most of these theories seem like a stretch, we’ll find out if any familiar faces aren’t what they seem when Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8th, 2019.
