‘Fantastic Four’ rumored cast having a combined total of 5 Oscar nominations still isn’t enough to dispel doomsayers

And the award for the hardest-to-please fandom goes to...

We’ve been clobbered with too many Fantastic Four casting rumors to count over the last couple of years, but maybe, just maybe, Marvel Studios is finally in the process of nailing down its First Family. Just recently, Adam Driver was said to have signed on as Reed Richards, and now further updates claim that not only has Paul Mescal joined up as Johnny Storm but Margot Robbie has phased into Phase Six as his on-screen sister Sue. All that’s missing is a Ben Grimm (and, no, it’s not Mila Kunis).

If this rumored intel from scooper Daniel RPK is to be believed — and, again, it’s far from confirmed at this point — that would mean the three-quarters-full Fantastic Four cast already has a total of five Oscar nominations between them. That would make the quartet one of the most star-studded MCU super-teams of them all, and yet picky fans are still not best pleased.

When tweeter Matt Ramos asked folks for their thoughts on the trio, the responses were filled with so many doomsayers you’d swear they were all Doctor Doom bot accounts.

Apparently some think this casting would be as bad as what Fox gave us.

Some GIFs say it all…

Others, meanwhile, see the logic in Marvel hiring such high-flying stars even if they personally think there are better picks out there.

Elsewhere, the John Krasinski loyalists are still championing their guy.

Plus, some are even still hoping for that old-school rumored lineup from last fall — remember the talk of Penn Badgley as Reed and Jodie Comer as Sue?

Although, maybe all would be forgiven if they just brought back Michael Chiklis — not an Oscar-nominee, but he has won a Primetime Emmy.

Whether this cast is accurate or not, it definitely seems like things are heating up on the Fantastic Four front, so it’s not a stretch to say some official info could flame on soon.
