Though Godzilla: King of the Monsters is still over four months away from release, a few images from the film’s Jakks Pacific toy line have already made their way online, one of which seems to tease the smackdown to come between the Big G and Rodan.

Though Godzilla: King of the Monsters is still over four months away from release, a few images from the film’s Jakks Pacific toy line have already made their way online, one of which seems to tease the smackdown to come between the Big G and Rodan.

As you can see below, the two colossal creatures come as a pair in the “Kings Collide Battle Pack,” the front of which encourages us to “Bring the Battle to Life!” From this, we can probably make the not-so-radical prediction that Michael Dougherty’s film will see a face-off between Godzilla and his winged co-star, with the pictured volcano potentially serving as the appropriately epic backdrop.

Rodan first crossed paths with Godzilla in the 1964 film Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster, which saw the two of them duke it out until Mothra convinced them to team up to fight the film’s titular creature. And since all four of these beasts feature in the upcoming King of the Monsters, one can’t help but wonder if the movie has a similar story mapped out.

As for what team human thinks of all this drama between giants, last month’s trailer saw Sam Coleman, played by Thomas Middleditch, explain that the world will have to learn which of these so-called Titans are here to protect us, and which are here to threaten us.

From the look of things, you have to imagine that Godzilla will get mankind’s backing in the fight against Ghidorah, but we’ll find out for sure where everyone’s loyalty lies when Godzilla: King of the Monsters hits theaters on May 31st, 2019. After that, the atomic-breathed lizard faces his most famous foe to date when Godzilla vs. Kong comes out on May 22nd, 2020.
