Producer Pierre-Ange Le Pogam has aquired the the spec script Grace Of Monaco, a biopic about the famous actress Grace Kelly who of course became the princess of Monaco. The script, written by Arash Amel, is said to be in the vein of The Kings Speech.
That being said, the film isn’t a traditional biopic, rather, it will focus on “a six month period in 1962 when the city-state got into a heated dispute with France, which grew tired of the petite principality being a tax haven. Kelly, still relatively new in her role as princess, manoeuvred behind the scenes to save Monaco from a coup.”
Pogam will produce as well as finance the project, which is already attracting the attention of many filmmakers. There have already many suggestions on who could play the Academy Award winning actress, most of which include Blake Lively as a strong favourite as well as January Jones, who both share a strong resemblance to Kelly.
Grace Of Monaco is likely to to begin production sometime next year with a 2013 release in eye.
