Gwyneth Paltrow has a lot on her plate these days. She’s an Oscar-winning actor, mother, businesswoman and produces a line of candles that smell like her vagina. Even so, for someone who’s appeared in multiple MCU movies over the last ten years, you’d think she would remember them a bit better. Last summer she forgot she was in Spider-Man: Homecoming, she couldn’t remember who Sebastian Stan was, forgot that Samuel L. Jackson was a big player in the MCU and, despite having quite a sizeable role in it, didn’t see Avengers: Endgame.
That forgetful streak has now continued at the recent Critics’ Choice Awards. Paltrow recently turned heads on the front of Harper’s Bazaar when she wore an honestly pretty damn cool sculpted chest piece by Tom Ford (which reminded me quite a bit of her Rescue armor from Endgame). Zendaya then turned up at the awards show wearing the same thing, causing Paltrow to comment on Instagram:
“Thank God I can say that I have something in common with Zendaya.”
Of course, multiple users pointed out to her that she already had something in common with Zendaya: they starred in the hit movie Spider-Man: Homecoming together. To be fair to Paltrow though, this is an easy mistake to make. She has a cameo role in the film right at the end and doesn’t share any scenes with Zendaya’s MJ. She also apologized for being so forgetful in a recent interview, saying:
“It is confusing because there are so many Marvel movies, and to be honest, I haven’t seen very many of them. It’s really stupid and I’m sorry, but I’m a 47-year-old mother… I just got confused… I thought that it [Spider-Man: Homecoming] was an Avengers movie, but it was not.”
Right now, it looks like Paltrow’s days as Pepper Potts are done. The best bet for her return though would be an Ironheart movie dealing with Tony Stark’s legacy and the ‘next’ Iron Man, which would give her a whole new film to completely forget about.
