Harley Quinn Will Reportedly Return For The Suicide Squad

James Gunn's The Suicide Squad will hopefully fix a lot of the problems that David Ayer's 2016 movie had, but fans are keeping their fingers crossed that it doesn't chuck the baby out with the bathwater. In other words, Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn was the highlight of the first film yet we haven't had it officially confirmed that the Clown Princess of Crime will return for the second cinematic outing of Task Force X.

Recently, though, Gunn seemed to tease Harley’s involvement in his movie on Instagram, giving fans renewed hope that she’ll appear. And now, We Got This Covered can back up the writer/director’s post with some information of our own.

We’ve heard from our sources – the same ones who revealed that Robert Pattinson will be playing Batman, and that Black Adam will show up in Shazam 3!, both of which have since been confirmed – that Robbie will definitely reprise her role in The Suicide Squad. We didn’t have confirmed to us that she’d be a lead character in the movie, but she’ll 100% show up.

The actress’ presence in TSS has previously been called into question because of her work on Birds of Prey, which the lengthy subtitle tells us will basically be Harley’s film. However, our intel points to BoP‘s reshoots, which are currently underway, adding in a scene at the end that’ll set up Quinn being a member of the Suicide Squad again. Likewise, it seems the franchise will move ahead without her, as we’ve been informed that Birds of Prey 2 won’t star Robbie.

Birds of Prey apparently has Warner Bros. pretty worried though, which is why John Wick‘s Chad Stahelski has been brought in to give it a revamp. Conversely, TSS is deep into pre-production and everything appears to be going smoothly. If Robbie’s a major part of it, though, she likely won’t have long to rest before hopping over to The Suicide Squad, as Gunn’s movie is due to start shooting next month in Atlanta.
