It’s been a long journey for Zombie’s latest feature, with principal photography wrapping back in April of last year. In the months since, the director has stayed active on social media with updates and set pics, though has largely kept plot details to himself. One of the key locations for shooting was the Sybil Brand Institute, a decommissioned women’s prison in Los Angeles, and from the look of things, the film’s titular trio will find themselves behind bars.

The cast is led by Bill Moseley, Sheri Moon Zombie and Sid Haig, who reprise their roles as Otis B. Driftwood, Vera-Ellen “Baby” Firefly and Captain Spaulding, respectively.  Of course, they’ll be also be joined by a mix of familiar character actors and Zombie regulars, including Danny Trejo, Dee Wallace, Daniel Roebuck, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Richard Brake, Bill Oberst Jr., Wade Williams, Austin Stoker, Emilio Rivera and Clint Howard.

3 From Hell serves as the third installment in a decades-spanning horror series that started with 2003’s House of 1000 Corpses and continued with The Devil’s Rejects. In an interview last year with Metal Hammer, Zombie teased that the film will be very different to its predecessors, explaining that he’s not interested in “retreading the same movie for a profit.”

That being said, this is still a Rob Zombie effort we’re talking about here, and so, in the words of Moseley, you can expect the movie to be “chockablock with gratuitous violence.” Unfortunately, this first preview doesn’t show us very much, but we’ll find out if 3 From Hell can live up to that promise when the flick hits theaters later this year.
