‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ earning $2 million less than ‘The Flash’ in Thursday previews is a major red flag for Disney

It's going from bad to worse for Disney.

As the colossal community of passionate moviegoers continue to wipe away their tears as Hollywood legend Harrison Ford bids farewell to Indiana Jones, it turns out that Disney shall soon be wiping away its tears for an entirely different reason. Gaining significant box office traction in Thursday previews is certainly never an easy accomplishment, but it’s clear that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny has hit a serious brick wall ahead of its worldwide release in theaters today.

As per Deadline, the fifth and final entry in the long-standing action franchise accumulated $7.2 million in early previews on Thursday. In comparison, while Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull didn’t receive early previews, the film debuted with $25M on its special Thursday back in 2008.

Not only that, but it’s now difficult to deny that the early previews accumulating $2 million less than The Flash — which earned around $9 million during its Thursday previews — is a huge red flag for Disney; especially when you consider that the DC flick has received some serious backlash. And with Disney reportedly losing nearly $900 million over its last string of projects, it feels evident that Indiana Jones 5 won’t be rewriting the path.

Perhaps it’s the strong criticism against the Harrison Ford de-aging that’s keeping the action-packed installment from reaching its full potential. But if Dial of Destiny‘s $295 million budget can’t outlast several troubling reports surrounding Ezra Miller’s personal life and a much lower budget, then maybe it’s clear that The Flash deserves to win this round.
