How Will Iron Man And Nebula Return Home In Avengers: Endgame?

The trailer for Avengers: Endgame opens with Tony Stark close to death on board a spaceship that's drifting through the cosmos. Things sound pretty bleak: he's been out of food and water for four days and the oxygen is set to run out the next morning. In anticipation of what he clearly sees as his inevitable death, he makes a final message for Pepper Potts, hoping that if someone ever finds them that she can know that his last thoughts were of her. Unless Endgame is going to be a downer the likes of which blockbuster cinema has never seen before, I highly doubt that it will open with beloved hero Tony Stark suffocating to death. So how's he going to get out of this mess?

Unless Endgame is going to be a downer the likes of which blockbuster cinema has never seen before, I highly doubt that it’ll open with beloved hero Tony Stark suffocating to death. So, with that in mind, it makes you wonder: how’s he going to get himself out out of this scrape?

Well, I think we can assume that at least he’s got Nebula on board with him. She was the only remaining survivor on Titan, and it makes sense that the pair would share the last spaceship left on the planet. However, that might not be such a good omen after all.

You see, if they’ve been drifting in space for weeks and Nebula’s on board, her knowledge of space travel would seem to indicate that the situation isn’t desperate just because Stark’s unfamiliarity with interstellar travel – it’s because things are genuinely bad. Perhaps after the Decimation there simply aren’t enough living beings in space to maintain the refueling and life support network that interstellar travelers like the Guardians of the Galaxy presumably rely on.

So, who could save them? Well, the obvious choice is Captain Marvel, if only because she’s space-based and has to enter the film somehow. But in the mid-credits scene in Infinity War we apparently see Nick Fury summoning her to Earth, so unless someone instructs her to find Stark (who for all the Earth heroes know, is now a pile of dust), there’s no reason she’d be looking for him.

I suspect Stark and Nebula’s salvation will be something we simply haven’t seen yet. Perhaps future trailers for Avengers: Endgame will give us an idea of what to expect, but if you have any theories of your own, be sure to let us know in the comments section down below.
