While Sony has yet to offer any official confirmation of the recent reports that the first teaser for Spider-Man: Far From Home will be dropping this weekend, it certainly looks like the team is loosening up on their very Marvel-esque wall of silence, with Jake Gyllenhaal finally confirming once and for all that he is indeed not playing Spider-Man.
Better yet, the star’s new Instagram video sees Gyllenhaal teasing his actual character in the movie, and if you’ve been keeping up to date on the various reports and set photos from the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel then, it’ll probably come as no surprise to hear that the actor is playing the villainous Mysterio.

Speaking of things we already knew about, earlier today we got our first official image of Peter Parker’s new stealth suit, which he’ll be wearing during his tour of Europe. It’s an outfit that we’ve previously seen quite a few times via set photos, and there’ve even been some fan theories that have emerged around the design, including the prediction that Peter will be collaborating with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. Either way, it certainly looks like our hero has some sneaking on the agenda, and his mission may well have something to do with taking down Gyllenhaal’s character.
Mysterio has been the subject of a fair amount of rumor and speculation himself, with one alleged leak from earlier this month reporting that the character will be seen as a hero by the public, though it’s a safe bet that the character won’t have the best of intentions. That’s just some hearsay for now, but hopefully we’ll learn more when the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer drops very soon.
