Jeremy Renner Explains Hawkeye’s Absence From Avengers: Infinity War Trailer

Well, we knew that the first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War was doing rather well on YouTube as three out of five of those that were most viewed in 2017 belong to films distributed by Marvel Studios, but, every day, it seems like we get some kind of new inclination as to how highly anticipated this movie truly is. Maybe it’s the fact that this is what the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been building to since Iron Man first arrived in 2008, or that so many superheroes will be united in one picture, but our best judgment says it’s a bit of both.

One hero, however, that has yet to put in an appearance is that of Hawkeye. From the sound of it, actor Jeremy Renner may not have even realized his absence from the first trailer, instead seeing the ensemble picture as a true team effort. In fact, here’s what he had to say to the South China Morning Post on that front:

“I don’t pay attention to that sort of stuff. I was just excited that we got a trailer together and it’s coming out – that is a pretty killer trailer.”

Now, the Avenging Archer’s omission could’ve been as simple as the studio wanting to place more focus on the invading Thanos or some of Earth’s Mightiest (and more prominent) Heroes, but what Renner had to add hints that they’re dancing around something:

“It’s difficult, because you want to speak about the movie but you can’t. There’s a lot of superheroes in it. And it’s gonna be big and it’s gonna be awesome. But I can’t really talk about the movie.”

As you may be aware, all signs point toward Clint Barton taking up the Ronin mantle, but given that none of us are involved with production, we can’t be too sure if he’ll don his new threads in Avengers: Infinity War, or if the transition will come in the as yet untitled Avengers 4. Regardless, fans of Civil War and Secret Invasion era comic books will be in for a treat.
