Talk of The Avengers 2 is already starting to heat up and the big question on everyone’s mind is, which new heroes will join the cast for the sequel?

We know that there will definitely be new additions to the cast and word on the street is that Dr. Strange and The Black Panther are being considered, but is it possible that director Joss Whedon has other ideas in mind?

In talking to EW, Whedon said that he’d like to see more females on the team. Now whether that will become a reality or not is up in the air. For one, we don’t even know if Whedon will direct the sequel, that’s the biggest unknown as of now.

If he does return though, we may see the testosterone levels drop just a bit, check out what he had to say below.

Whedon joked, “I think we need to get some more men on the team. Studios will tell you: A woman cannot headline an action movie. After The Hunger Games they might stop telling you that a little bit. Whatever you think of the movie, it’s done a great service. And after The Avengers, I think it’s changing.”

Of course, one has to wonder, which female heroes would Marvel throw into the sequel? Any ideas? Furthermore, for them to drop new female heroes in, would the heroes need their own films first?
