More bad news for Kang actor Jonathan Majors. Reportedly, Majors, who is currently under fire for an alleged physical altercation with his significant other that occurred on March 25 in New York City, has been omitted from the newest footage of Marvel’s Loki, season two. This alleged absence is a curious one, because Marvel Studios had previously intimated that they had no current plans to replace the Creed III actor, and have mostly appeared to stick by his side.
News about Majors’ absence from the footage was reported by ComicBook.com. According to ComicBook.com, Marvel Studios debuted new footage for Loki season two, which is currently scheduled for release on October 6, with no mention of Majors or his characters. “Loki Season 2 trailer with nary a mention of Jonathan Majors, and Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige didn’t even mention he was in the show,” a fan wrote on Twitter.
The post-credits scene in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania gave viewers a look at season two of the series and promised audiences that they would be seeing more of Kang in his ‘Victor Timely’ persona. It looks like that might not come to be, however.
Although it’s certainly possible that Majors might still make an appearance in the show, it looks like Disney is potentially gearing up to drop the actor. Majors has been charged with one count of assault in the third degree, three counts of attempted assault in the third degree, and one count of harassment in the second degree. Majors has already appeared in court, and his next appearance is scheduled for June 13.
Majors’ team has continued to proclaim the actors’ innocence, but many in the court of public opinion are unsure about that. Majors recently debuted a brand new relationship, raising eyebrows, as many felt that the embattled actor was merely trying to score sympathy points, with some accusing him of playing into public relations, rather than facts, so that he can maintain a shroud of innocence.
While Majors has currently not been found guilty or innocent in a court of law, the seriousness of these allegations mean that Marvel Studios will have to act sooner rather than later. While it might be a tall ask to replace Majors, on whom the MCU is banking their next saga on, the backlash has already begun, and it seems unlikely that Marvel will be able to stem the tide against Majors.
