While the internet has provided us with plenty of leaks and rumors about the upcoming Avengers 4, it’s evident that Marvel Studios are going to some extreme lengths to keep such intel to a minimum, with even the cast having only limited knowledge of the very movie they’re acting in.
Karen Gillan revealed as such when she spoke on The Wrap’s Shoot This Now podcast, as the actress known for playing Nebula admitted that she doesn’t even know the name of the film she just worked on.
“I actually don’t know the name of it,” Gillan said. “Didn’t Mark Ruffalo blurt out a name recently or something, I feel like I heard something about that. I don’t know that there’s a title yet, so, who knows.”
Don Cheadle also admitted to ignorance earlier this month, but not before trolling his fans with “hints” of the Avengers: Infinity War title.
But if you think it’s extreme enough that the actors don’t know what their own movie’s called, Gillan also claimed that she’s never even seen a full script for the film.
“We didn’t even get a script. There was no script,” Gillan said. “Just my scenes. I’d sometimes get them just in the morning, do them, hand them back over at the end of the day. I mean, the directors would fill us in on everything that we needed in terms of context, but still, I don’t know what this movie’s about (laughs).”
You can almost imagine Gillan and her co-stars scouring the online fan forums for rumors and theories on next year’s release.
It isn’t just Avengers 4 that the actress is being kept in the dark about, either. In the same interview, Gillan admitted that she doesn’t know what’s going on with the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but seemed pretty confident that the firing of James Gunn won’t prove to be the death of the series.
As for the aforementioned Mark Ruffalo incident, the star did refer to Avengers 4 as “The Last Avenger” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, but fans quickly disputed the legitimacy of this “spoiler,” and Gillan’s latest statements certainly raise doubts that the Hulk actor would even know the title himself.
In any case, we’ll find out what’s being kept so under wraps when Avengers 4 hits theaters on May 3rd, 2019.
