Kevin Smith Is Loving The Avengers: Endgame Trailer

Though Kevin Smith has spent much of this last week recalling his emotional visit to the set of Star Wars: Expisode IX, it was inevitable that the filmmaker, podcaster, and long-time comic book enthusiast would have something to say about the highly anticipated first trailer for Avengers: Endgame, and like most of the MCU fanbase, Smith’s sounding pretty ecstatic.

The Clerks helmsman has previously gone on record claiming that he’d rather watch the Avengers: Infinity War sequel than ever make another another movie of his own, and it sounds like the new footage hasn’t caused his excitement to ease up one iota, with Smith’s message serving as a breakdown of some of the teaser’s highlights:

“The @MarvelStudios logo gets Snapped! The Thanos scarecrow! Ronin reveal! And @AntMan is gonna play a big role! @Avengers, I promise to stay alive until your tale is told! As my Grandma used to say whenever she was watching her favorite soap operas, ‘Shut up! My stories are on!’”

To elaborate on a few of these references, the “Snapped” logo is seen disintegrating in much the same way that Thanos’ victims did at the end of Infinity War, and if Endgame’s first poster is anything to go by, this dusting effect could be a recurring element in the film’s promotion.

Ronin, meanwhile, is the new persona of Clint Barton, better known as Hawkeye, with the new trailer providing our first look at the character’s long-rumored change in style. As for Ant-Man, the return of Scott Lang is saved for the trailer’s final moments, and Paul Rudd’s quick appearance has proven more than enough to get the internet speculating once more on the significance of the character and his trip to the Quantum Realm.

We’ll find out what’s in store for Scott and his few surviving peers when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th, 2019.
