With a worldwide gross of $782 million, on a budget of $58 million no less, Deadpool is one of the most successful blockbusters that we’ve seen in some time. As such, it’s no surprise that the film is getting a sequel, with director Tim Miller, star Ryan Reynolds and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick all set to return.
Of course, the follow up will be making room for some fresh faces as well, as a whole host of new characters are set to make an appearance. One of them is Cable, who was name-dropped in the post-credits scene of Deadpool. Though many actors have been brought up for the role, including Stephen Lang, Ron Perlman and Dolph Lundgren, it appears as if the studio may be heading in a different direction if Mashable’s Jeff Sneider is to be believed.
On the latest episode of Meet The Movie Press, which you can watch above, he mentioned that Kyle Chandler is the name that’s been floating around Hollywood. He cautioned to take the news with a grain of salt, but according to his sources, that’s who the studio is looking at.
[zergpaid]That wasn’t all, though, as Sneider also mentioned that Domino, who is said to be the “scene-stealer” of the film, may be played by Mackenzie Davis, who’s been heating up lately with roles in The Martian, TV’s Halt and Catch Fire and the upcoming Blade Runner 2.
Though he’s not always right, Sneider does have a fairly solid track record, so it’s entirely possible that both of these casting choices may end up working out. Then again, with the film still so far off, things can definitely change.
Both Davis and Chandler are unexpected choices for the roles of Domino and Davis, and aren’t names you’d expect to be associated with the characters, but sometimes, that’s when you get the best results – when you go with left field casting.
We’ll continue to keep you posted once we hear more on this intriguing new rumor, but for now, tell us, who would you like to see take these roles in Deadpool 2? Sound off below with your thoughts!
