Set to release in the thick of summer blockbuster season, Sony has bestowed a fair amount of confidence in Feig’s gender-swapped vision, though considering the cast that the Bridesmaids director has assembled, we can hardly blame the studio. Thrusting Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon onto the streets of New York, the movie will see their brilliant scientists ready to get a hold on the otherworldly chaos.

Reuniting with their fellow Bridesmaids cohort, Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy play Erin Gilbert and Abby Yates, respectively. Kate McKinnon, meanwhile, while take point as Jillian Holtzmann, a “nuclear engineer, munitions expert, and proton wrangler” while Leslie Jones caps off the core ensemble as Patty Tolan, a “ghost tracker, municipal historian, and metaphysical commando.”

Insiders have claimed that Sony has no plans to showcase any trailers during this weekend’s Super Bowl event – Bourne 5, Deadpool and Independence Day: Resurgence are all poised to feature – though we assume the first trailer for Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters is right around the corner.

McCarthy, Wiig, Jones, and McKinnon will introduce the Ghostbusters to a whole new generation when Feig’s spooky blockbuster opens on July 15, 2016.
