The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Laura Cayouette, who played Rocket in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill, Vol. 2 has joined the cast of Django Unchained. Cayouette will be playing Lara Lee Candie-Fitzwilly, the widowed sister of Leonardo DiCaprio’s character, Calvin Candie.

Next up is the news that Kurt Russell is in talks to join Django Unchained. Russell, who stared in Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof, is in talks to replace Kevin Costner as slave trainer Ace Woody. Russell isn’t confirmed for the part but I doubt it will be long until he is as this news seems pretty concrete.

Knowing the role of Ace Woody (from what I’ve read in the script), I believe that Russell is a great choice and is a better option than Costner.

There is also a small piece of news regarding Christoph Waltz. Waltz has missed the New York Film Festival premiere of his new film, Roman Polanski’s Carnage, due to a dislocated pelvic bone, caused by training for Django Unchained. This hopefully won’t bring any set backs to the film, which is now rumoured to start production in November.

Although, conflicting reports by Michael K. Williams say the film will start in January, which would make more sense as Leonardo DiCaprio doesn’t finish filming The Great Gatsby until December.

Django Unchained stars Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, Dennis Christopher, Gerald McRaney and Laura Cayouette and is in cinemas on December 25th, 2012.
