Could The Legion Of Doom Appear In Justice League?

As well as uniting six of DC's finest heroes, several villains have also been enlisted for Justice League. Ciaran Hinds' General Steppenwolf is set to take on central antagonist duties, but the likes of Deathstroke, Lex Luthor and Darkseid were all linked with the film at one stage or another as well. That's potentially at least four bad guys in the movie, then, but is it enough to form a Legion of Doom?

Yes, the latest rumour surrounding Justice League is that the iconic union of supervillains could put in an appearance. The idea was sparked by an apparently innocuous photo that Deathstroke actor Joe Manganiello shared on Twitter. It seems innocent enough, but DC fans quickly took note of his T-shirt.

You’ll notice that it reads “Legion of Doom,” written in the font used for Justice League‘s logo. Where the movie’s title has a star, the Doom version sports a skull. As no one seems to have seen this shirt before, it’s got fans thinking that this is something Manganiello received during JL‘s production – a hint that the Legion are on their way, perhaps?

Maybe, but probably not. Apart from all the other reasons it’s a long shot, it’s unlikely that the actor would let details about this highly classified movie slip by doing something as obvious as wearing a massive spoiler on his chest and sharing it online. Maybe he did get the shirt while on Justice League, but perhaps it’s just something they whipped up for him to welcome into the family of DC villains.

Then again, who knows? Stranger things have happened in the DCEU. Four villains might be a little small to be classified as a legion (though don’t tell the Legends of Tomorrow version that), but all it would take would be to bring in some of the Suicide Squad and voila, you have a decent sized supervillain team. Not to mention that set photos suggested that the Hall of Justice might materialize in some form in the film, so this isn’t the first time that we’ve heard Justice League could pay homage to the classic Superfriends cartoon series.

Still, we’d urge you to take this news with a super-sized pinch of salt. What we do know for sure, however, is that Justice League is set to arrive in cinemas on November 17th.
