Here’s How Avengers: Infinity War Handles Hulk And Black Widow’s Romance

The most surprising romance in the MCU has to be the relationship between Bruce Banner and Natasha Romanoff, which came out of left-field back in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron. Things didn't go too smoothly though for the man who can turn into a giant green rage monster and the former assassin - who'd have guessed? - and by the end of the movie the couple weren't even on the same planet. So, how will Avengers: Infinity War deal with this unusual love story?

So, how will Avengers: Infinity War deal with this unusual love story?

As the relationship has earned a mixed reception from fans, and the fact that there’s so much else to deal with in the event movie, it wouldn’t have been too surprising if the memory of “Brutasha” was swept under the carpet. However, Mark Ruffalo was asked what’s next for Bruce and Nat and he heavily suggested that their connection will definitely stick around, even if it takes a few turns along the way.

“They’re star-crossed lovers, so it’ll be something they’re dealing with for the rest of their living days, I think. Whether it’s requited or unrequited, I don’t imagine that’s gonna go away anytime soon, in one iteration or another.”

Though we haven’t seen them share the screen for three years, hints that Hulk still has feelings for Black Widow were dropped in last November’s Thor: Ragnarok. After two years in control, the Green Goliath was finally calmed down enough to turn back into Banner when he saw a recording of Natasha. Bruce’s first thoughts upon returning were then: “Where’s Nat?”

However, while Ruffalo’s “star-crossed lovers” comments suggest that things will be mostly rosy, Scarlet Johansson has hinted that they might not work out, after all. The actress admitted that she was “devastated” after filming with her co-star one day.

So, which of them is telling the truth? We’ll find out when Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27th.
