Gamora Infinity War

Marvel Fans Can’t Handle Gamora’s Abrupt Exit In That New Avengers: Endgame Deleted Scene

Marvel released one heck of a deleted scene from Avengers: Endgame today. The sequence fits in following Tony Stark's tragic death, with the emotional sequence seeing the assembled Avengers pay their respects for their fallen friend by kneeling in honor of him. All the Avengers, that is, minus Gamora, who quietly slips away while the rest are looking away.

It’s such a shady exit in a really emotional scene that fans can’t handle it. In fact, “Gamora” has been trending on Twitter this afternoon as Marvel lovers have turned the moment into an instant meme.

You can check out a few of the best reactions below:

As unintentionally funny as that part of the scene is now, Gamora’s early exit demonstrates just how different the time-traveled 2014 version of Thanos’ adoptive daughter is from the one we’ve known for the rest of the franchise. The original Gamora would no doubt have respected Tony’s sacrifice with the others, but this version doesn’t have the same compassion due to never teaming up with the Guardians.

It also makes clear what happened to Gamora following the battle. The theatrical cut of the movie leaves her fate open-ended, as Star-Lord’s shown to be searching for her but finding nothing. We’ve previously had it confirmed that Gamora lived, and wasn’t wiped out by the Snap that killed Thanos and his army, but this scene explains how she disappeared without anyone knowing where she went.

We’ll presumably see Zoe Saldana green up as Gamora again in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, in which the team will no doubt be on a quest to find their missing friend. Saldana has also teased that she wants to see more darker moments for her character. You know, moments like WALKING AWAY FROM TONY’S CORPSE.

Avengers: Endgame arrives on Digital HD from July 30th and DVD/Blu-Ray from August 13th.
