MCU Fans Are Going Nuts Over The Inevitable Captain Marvel/Thanos Showdown

MCU fans the world over are already eagerly anticipating the inevitable showdown between Captain Marvel and Thanos in Avengers 4.

Even before Captain Marvel‘s inaugural teaser trailer dazzled the Internet with its cosmic spectacle and remixed origin story for one Carol Danvers, the titular heroine was already being tipped as the secret ace in the hole for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes going into Avengers 4.

This is, after all, the strongest character that the MCU has ever produced – much to the bemusement of Thor and Hulk, no doubt – so it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that Captain Marvel is being championed as the all-powerful lifeline the MCU so desperately needs.

And Twitter is certainly reveling in yesterday’s wondrous teaser trailer, which delivered first-look shots of Jude Law (?) and Samuel L. Jackson (a de-aged Nick Fury) in action for the very first time. But perhaps most of all, the Captain Marvel trailer was all about Brie Larson’s supercharged heroine and her quest to end the long-brewing Kree-Skrull war, which has seemingly spilled over onto Earth.

It’ll serve as a good warm-up for the character’s inevitable duel with Thanos, too, and let’s just say people are looking forward to the Avengers 4 showdown…

The tweet about Captain Marvel joining forces with Scarlet Witch, Thor and Doctor Strange is particularly telling, as the combined forces of each character ought to be enough to topple Thanos once and for all.

We have a sneaking suspicion that Avengers 4 is a little more complex than we give it credit for, what with rumors of time travel and alternate timelines being woven into the fabric of Joe and Anthony Russo’s 2019 tentpole. Be that as it may, there’s a Captain Marvel movie on the horizon, and it’s shaping up to be every bit as epic as we’ve come to expect from Marvel Studios.
