Deadline is reporting that that Mel Gibson has been cast in Robert Rodriguez‘s Machete Kills. Machete was one of my favorite films of 2010 and I’m thrilled to see the sequel starting to pick up some steam.
In the film, “Machete is drafted by the U.S. government to track an arms dealer through Mexico before he can launch a rocket.” Sounds pretty crazy and the film will likely be just as out there as the first one.
Not long ago it was revealed that Rodriguez wanted Gibson and Michelle Williams in the film, and though there is no word on Williams, Gibson is now in serious discussions. No details yet on which role Gibson will be playing in the film, but it will no doubt be a very interesting one.
Machete Kills, which stars Danny Trejo, begins principal photography next month and will be released in 2013.
