Learn How Marvel Brought Thanos To Life With New Avengers: Infinity War Featurette

With Avengers: Infinity War now available across Blu-ray and DVD, Marvel has dropped a new featurette that's dedicated to Thanos.

Today’s the day, folks – the day when Avengers: Infinity War is available to take home on Blu-ray and DVD.

Arriving exactly two weeks after the film’s digital debut (such is the modern Hollywood way), Infinity War‘s home video release is packed to the rafters with never-before-seen bonus features, in-depth featurettes and a gag reel of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes fluffing their lines and generally reveling in front of the cameras.

Which brings us to today’s newly-unveiled featurette which focuses not on Marvel’s costumed crusaders, but the one villain they’ve sworn to defeat – Thanos. Yes, even before he rounded up all six Infinity Stones, Josh Brolin’s Mad Titan was a force to be reckoned with, and his ability to defeat the Hulk in hand-to-hand combat, before tossing Loki aside like a ragdoll, helped set the tone for Avengers: Infinity War.

And below, you’ll see how Marvel’s talented SFX artists were able to bring Thanos to life in the first place – from Brolin’s mo-cap performance through until those nuanced facial animations that allow for a more expressive (and well-rounded) MCU villain than we’ve ever seen before.

It’s a credit to Marvel, then, that audiences soon felt a sense of empathy towards Thanos – you know, despite the fact that he wanted to wipe out half of the frickin’ universe. Such an impassioned following led to the creation of the subreddit ‘r/ThanosDidNothingWrong,’ which actually banned half of its users earlier this year in the name of balance. How’s that for honoring an Avengers: Infinity War meme?

Joe and Anthony Russo’s crowning achievement is now available across Blu-ray and DVD, meaning you can relive Thanos’ victory ten times over as we collectively brace ourselves for the spectacle that is Avengers 4.
