A series of Captain Marvel character bios have arrived to draw a line between the good guys and the bad.
First spotted by CBM, these brief descriptions appear to have been lifted from the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, which is all about Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers and her maiden voyage, incase you’ve been living under a rock.
They’re not terribly revealing, mind you, but they do offer some insight into Captain Marvel‘s ensemble cast, along with Jude Law’s “Starforce Commander.” The actor had previously been tipped for the mentor role of Mar-Vell, who’s responsible for training the wet-behind-her-ears Carol Danvers on the Kree, the Skrulls, and the intergalactic war that’s been waged for generations. But now we’re not so sure…
Either way, you’ll be able to get acquainted with the core cast of Captain Marvel via the gallery below:
From the young Nick Fury to the young, untrained Agent Coulson (lean close enough and you’ll even spot Ben Mendelsohn as Skrull leader Talos), Captain Marvel is very much rooted in the DNA of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s also about to blaze a path of its own through the cosmos, which is all the more exciting when you remember that Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s standalone pic is straddling the line between MCU Phase 3 and Phase 4.
Couple this with Kevin Feige’s comments about Carol Danvers becoming the new figurehead – presumably at the expense of Tony Stark and/or Captain America – and it’s abundantly clear that Captain Marvel is here to stay. Which is just as well, given Earth’s Mightiest Heroes still have their backs to the wall following Infinity War and it’s frankly unforgettable finale.
