Kevin Feige Reveals Why Nick Fury Paged Captain Marvel In Avengers: Infinity War

Captain Marvel is destined to become the MCU's strongest ever character. Or so says MCU boss Kevin Feige, who spoke about the advent of one Carol Danvers with EW.

Not for the first time, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has gone on record to gauge the near-limitless abilities of Captain Marvel. Spoilers: she’s destined to become the MCU’s strongest character by quite some distance.

Over on Entertainment Weekly, Feige spoke at length about Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers and why she’s all set to become the franchise’s new figurehead in a post-Avengers 4 world. Someone has to pick up the mantle from Iron Man and Captain America, right?

And based on Feige’s estimations, Captain Marvel is perhaps the perfect candidate to swoop in and take the job, as she’s seemingly “more powerful” than any current Marvel Cinematic Universe character, which ought to make for a fun shake-up after the Hulk and Thor’s pissing contest during Ragnarok. It’s also the reason why Fury paged her in that post-credits scene from Infinity War.

She is more powerful than any character we’ve introduced thus far. So that alone tells you that there’s a reason Nick hit that button at the end [of Infinity War], when he realized that they were up against something far bigger than they had ever been up against before. And having her on your side is hopefully going to change the balance of power in a way that they desperately need.

So, it’s pretty clear that the advent of Carol Danvers will lead to some major changes within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is all the more fascinating when you consider that Captain Marvel will be releasing in close proximity to Avengers 4. Will she become the Avengers’ last line of hope against Thanos? It’s nigh on certain, particularly if her alien powers far exceed those of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes – or, should we say, what’s left of them.

Look for Captain Marvel to take to the skies on March 8th, 2019, with the first trailer expected to be here in the next few weeks.
