Having got his movie mojo back after starring in The Last Stand, Arnold Schwarzenegger is eyeing up a return to the series that put his name on the map – Conan The Barbarian. The latest rumours suggest that the long-anticipated third film in that series will be made, entitled The Legend of Conan, which will finally tell the story of how Conan became king in the first place.

This would complete that trilogy but, according to fansite ArnoldFans, The Legend of Conan would be the first in its very own trilogy of films, which is set to be written by the team behind Fast and Furious.

Here’s what Frederick Malmberg, CEO of Paradox Entertainment – current owners of the Conan property – had to say:

We’re doing the script and it’s by the whole ‘Fast and the Furious’ team, which is great for a power position of the studio because they’re extremely successful… I think if we do this right, we can do two more Conan movies right after. I think Game of Thrones also shows a huge interest in fantasy. I’m psyched about it.

Given that Game of Thrones is currently the biggest thing on TV in the whole world right now, his excitement would be justified and its understandable that the owners of the Conan property would want to get something out ASAP.

It’s going to be a busy few years for Arnie, as he’s also got the Terminator reboot, geriaction film Escape Plan with Sylvester Stallone, and zombie drama Maggie on his plate – he might be in his mid-sixties, but he doesn’t show any signs of slowing yet. The Legend of Conan is tentatively scheduled for a 2014 release, but who knows what will happen? Who are we to predict the whims of Hollywood?

Do you think Arnie will be able to convincingly play the warrior-king in The Legend of  Conan? Of course he will. He’s Arnie. He’ll never die.

Well, that’s not true – we’ll all die eventually. Even you.
