New Deadpool 2 Poster Mocks Fox For Killing Wolverine

The Merc with a Mouth takes a shot at Fox for killing off Wolverine on this new poster for the upcoming Deadpool 2, which hits theaters on May 18th.

Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds sharing the same screen as Wolverine and Deadpool? Honestly, it’s the stuff dreams are made of.

It’s happened before, of course, though the less said about X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the better. As such, there are those still crossing their fingers in the hope that Wade Wilson and Logan will one day – one day – join forces in a future film. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely to ever happen, but that doesn’t mean the Merc won’t continue poking fun at his mutant pal every chance he gets.

Case in point: a cheeky new poster for Deadpool 2 has surfaced online today and comes accompanied with the tagline, “From The Studio That Killed Wolverine.” Don’t expect to see the X-Men leader himself here, as he’s nowhere to be found, but it’s a fun jab at Fox and should get a laugh from fans. Not to mention that the poster also gives us a good look at most of the sequel’s main players.

Those who’ve been keeping pace with the Deadpool 2 marketing campaign will know that this is far from the first time Wolvie has come up in the same conversation as Wade Wilson. From DP crashing Hugh Jackman’s birthday to Ryan Reynolds revealing that he’s begging his friend to return to the role, there’s been so much chatter about the beloved hero that it has fans thinking whether it’s all some kind of set-up for a surprise cameo.

It’d be a stretch to imagine such a thing would happen, of course, given Wolverine famously perished just as the credits rolled on Logan. But if the Aussie legend were to play himself, a fourth wall-busting scene involving the Merc and Hugh Jackman would no doubt send viewers into a tizzy.

There’s a real bromance between the two actors, after all, so we’re intrigued to find out if anything comes from this back-and-forth between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman when Deadpool 2 arrives on May 18th.
